Jason Jani on Netflix’s Wonka’s The Golden Ticket

Every one of them was somebody else’s moment. This one’s mine.

I’m Jason Jani. I own SCE Event Group in Freehold, and for the last fifteen years I’ve DJed other people’s biggest nights. On Wednesday, September 23, I’m on Netflix, in Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, and for once the moment is mine. This page is where I’ll keep everything about it: how it happened, how to watch, and what I’m allowed to say.

I was DJing a wedding at Tillinghouse at Suneagles in Eatontown. It was a normal Saturday, and I was loading in when Nick Spinelli made a surprise appearance. He walked in holding a golden ticket.

Nick worked with me at SCE for ten years. He’d been picked as one of 12 people to go into the Chocolate Factory, and each of the 12 got to bring one partner. He brought the ticket to me on the floor, in front of the couple and their guests, and asked me to come with him.

I’ve played over a thousand weddings. Every one of them was somebody else’s moment. That was the first time in fifteen years the thing happening on the floor was happening to me.

I said yes. Obviously.

Wonka’s The Golden Ticket premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The two-part finale is Wednesday, September 30. Twelve teams. One partner each. The prize is what the show calls “a lifetime supply of money.”

Netflix has the full cast on Tudum, and I’m on IMDb now, which is a sentence I didn’t expect to write.

I can tell you it’s a competition built on temptation. The factory tests you physically, mentally and morally, and it does it in a place that looks exactly like the one you grew up watching.

I can tell you what I brought in with me. I have an insane work ethic and a never-give-up attitude as part of my DNA. I’m a strategic person in most situations, and I try to see every perspective and the pros and potential cons before I move. Nick’s biggest strength is connecting with people. His biggest weakness, in his own words, is spinning and feeling dizzy, which is not ideal for a man walking into Wonka’s factory. As a team, we balance each other out. Ten years of setting up in ballrooms together will do that.

I can’t tell you how far we go. I can’t tell you who wins. I signed the same paperwork as everyone else, and I’ll be honoring it after the finale too, so if you see me at a wedding in October, don’t ask. Watch it. That’s the fun part.

I’ve been a DJ since before SCE existed, and I started SCE in 2009. Since then it’s been more than 2,500 weddings, corporate events and private events. I’ve shared a stage with Cardi B and Diplo at the Eagles’ Super Bowl party, DJed the Saturday Night Live pre-parties, and played for Martha Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel and Nestlé. My YouTube channel, where I teach other DJs how this job actually works, has over 100,000 subscribers, and I co-founded The DJ Collective, a conference for the DJs who play the biggest private events in the country.
