The History

If you can imagine it, before Crystal Plaza became an amazing New Jersey event venue, the historic mansion was originally built to be a residence. The Livingston, New Jersey mansion was built in the late 1800s by famed architect Stanford White, who was also responsible for designing the Tiffany building on Fifth Avenue, the original Madison Square Garden and the arch at Washington Square Park in Manhattan, NY, along with countless other local landmarks!

Then in 1965 The Alpine Catering Group purchased the mansion to open a new event venue on Northfield Avenue in Livingston, New Jersey. Dorothy Janoff named the new venue Crystal Plaza for the gorgeous 30-plus crystal chandeliers within the mansion. And then, in 1995 the Crystal Plaza underwent massive renovations, which included the construction of a stunning new grand ballroom with a capacity of 400 guests! Talk about a massive party! And, more recently during the pandemic, Crystal Plaza Group invested in their future by completing a historic expansion of the property creating 13,000 square feet of new features and event spaces!

The mansion is situated on 5-acres of picturesque , well landscaped grounds and offers the perfect blend of Traditional Old-World Elegance but with all the Modern-Day Luxury we’ve all come to expect. Every space – whether indoors or outdoors – has been meticulously designed, while still maintaining enough flexibility to allow you to create the wedding day of your dreams. Also, The mansion only offers exclusive bookings for the entire property, ensuring that you have the utmost privacy, and their event staff are completely focused on you and your guests on your big day!

The Ceremony Spaces

The Crystal Plaza has a wonderful variety of onsite options for your ceremony, depending on the esthetic you’re going for. From the enchanting gazebo nestled in their lush, beautiful gardens, to the stylish, sophisticated, and good in all weather Atrium, the Crystal Plaza has the perfect spot for you to say your “I do’s.”

The Catering

To put it mildly, the food at Crystal Plaza is outstanding! That certainly makes sense to us, as the larger Crystal Plaza Group started out as a luxury wedding caterer, and the tradition continues today! Crystal Plaza Group’s menus showcase extensive choices for every part of your wedding! But, they want you to know that you’re not limited to what they currently have on their menus, simply let them know what you want and they will make it happen. From dietary restrictions to preference in presentation style, they can handle it all. Also, Crystal Plaza has separate non-kosher, kosher and glatt kosher kitchens that are held to the highest of standards to accommodate dietary needs. So, they’ll be no problem keeping kosher on your big day!

The Afterparty Options
