Speeches, keep it simple, short and sweet…

As a professional disc jockey who has been in the business for fifteen years, I think I have witnessed hundreds of toasts, speeches and dedications. Although most are excellent, some seem to carry on alittle longer then they need to because they are not planned out before hand.

A speech or having mulitple speeches at a wedding if done right can really add to the personalization of the day as well as incorporating your honored guests.

I am posting a link to a Saturday Night Live video that is a comical interpretation of how some weddings are when there are too many speeches. I found it funny. Let me say there is a point in the video that comments on the racial side with regards to the outcome of the presidential election, (that is not the opinion of SCE), but used to show how anything can happen when you allow anyone attending your special celebration the mic.

Anyway, please enjoy the clip and when you are planning your wedding celebration, please remember to keep the speeches allowed to a minimum and for selected vips or guests…..

Enjoy the video.

HAHAHAHA! I love it. This is so true. When I hear a short, well thought out speech, I remember it. If it is drawn out and over the top, I forget it 30 seconds later…though I do remember holding the camera for your ten minute toast.

Jay, great post and great advice to anyone giving a toast at a wedding!
